CENTER CAPS

Upgrading to aftermarket wheels can be both a blessing and a sad event. On one hand you get the benefits of being different with nice, new wheels. On the other hand you lose the Acura emblem from the wheel center. To make up for this deficiency, you can go out and purchase some wheel cap covers for about $30 - $40. Whether this is to cover up what true brand of wheels you really have, to fool people into thinking these are factory wheels, or just to cover up some other ugly trademark, these caps are the way to go. Of course there are also some other ways that some people have cleverly found a solution for.

The 17-inch chrome wheels I got were Funza, which had a really ugly, gray logo for the center. It just looked like some horrible stuff that wheel spitted up. Just didn't go with my color scheme at all! So I went out and bought some plastic wheel center cap covers for like $30. There were two sizes, and I had to opt for the smaller size because it just about fits over the original caps. Now Vivian looks much more uniform and does not have to parade around with the ugly Funza center logo. I also get a slight sadistic pleasure from people that think these are genuine Acura wheels from the factory and which dealer they to for purchasing a set.

For the wheel centers, I bought them at this place called Fifth Gear. They have a black background with the emblem in gold and simply stick over the Niche caps that where there before. At first I thought it would be a waste of money ($20) because I thought they would come off with the heat from the wheels but I was wrong. They stay on just fine with no problems. And you wouldn't believe the compliments I get from them. By the way, thanks for saying they're nice.:) Everyone thinks they are Acura made wheels (even though the wheel has NICHE inscripted on it). But that's how close to custom it gets. It looks like it came with the wheel.

As soon as I got my new wheels, I felt that something just wasn't right. Then I realized what it was and rushed over to a local aftermarket parts store. I pulled the Team Dynamics centerpieces off and replaced them with ones that have the Acura emblem on them. These pieces are actually a black flexible piece that come right off of the wheel centers (which usually cover the wheel nuts). They are a great upgrade to the wheels (cost is about $30) and actually fool some people in making them think they are made by Acura. They come in various sizes, so make sure that you have the right one for your specific set of wheels.
